Over the years, one of the things I constantly hear from our Companions is “I want to be normal”. What this means is that the person wants a place of their own to live, meaningful and loving relationships, and work. It is, after all, what most people appear to have. A big part of our job is to help people have the confidence to strike up friendships and relationships, and this is made easier through the vision of founder Abbe Pierre and his view of companionship. I have seen recent arrivals quickly offered friendship and support by other Companions. In addition Companions have stood by their friends as they have faced the most difficult issues in their lives. These are the building blocks for a “normal life” and are what makes Emmaus so special.
Thank you for making this possible through your gifts of finance and your donations of household items. They are most appreciated.
With best wishes
