Job vacancy: Premises & Vehicles Coordinator

This is a hands-on role, working alongside volunteers and companions (formerly homeless residents) to maintain Emmaus Bristol’s premises and vehicles. We estimate that this job would be 1/3rd desk based and 2/3rds actively inspecting, maintaining and improving our different buildings and vehicles.

We don’t expect you to be able to fix everything, so a big part of the job will be coordinating external contractors such as electricians, heating engineers, mechanics and other services. You will need to ensure that the charity gets best value, and that works are completed to a high standard.
You will be a key Health and Safety person; writing risk assessments as well as carrying out routine inspections and tests.

The Emmaus ethos is that companions help themselves out of homelessness, and also help others (rather than being passive recipients of charity) and so a big part of the role is working alongside companions and other volunteers, to train and encourage them, and to learn from their skills and experiences too.
As this is a new role, we are offering it as a one-year fixed term contract initially, with a view to making it permanent if our objectives are met.
