Homeless Shoebox Appeal – donate now

Show Box Appeal

Following the huge response in 2015, the Homeless Shoe Box Appeal are again collecting shoe boxes or rucksacks full of essential items for the homeless in Bristol, Bath & surrounding areas.

During the festive season, a lot of us enjoy warm homes, nice meals, time with family and some exchange gifts. Most of us don’t have to worry about where the next meal is coming from, nor do snowy nights fill us with dread. Help somebody who’s facing Christmas on the streets this year by supporting this appeal.

Donate now

Take a look at the Facebook Page or see below for what items to include. You can drop off a box or rucksack full of items at any of these drop-off points across Bristol, including any of our shops:

  • Stokes Croft: Backfields House, Upper York Street, BS2 8QJ
  • Bedminster: 72 Bedminster Parade, BS3 4HL
  • Brislington: 33 Brislington Hill, BS4 5BE

Please make sure your box is dropped off by 2nd December, ready for collection and distribution by local homeless charities in early December.

What to include

You can fill a shoe box or a rucksack. Please no gift bags or handbags this year. Please clearly label the box with content. Most boxes should be male, as there are more homeless men than women. Please stick to one well completed box per person, where possible, to make sure we are able to distribute all donations received.

Please tape 50p to the outside of the box, to cover cost of van hire (any remaining money will go to local homeless charities). Please also clearly write if the box is for a man or women (note – most boxes should be male!) and what the box contains.

Toiletries e.g. tooth paste / brush, baby wipes, deodorant, etc
Non perishable food e.g. sweets, chocolate, dried fruit, pot noodles
Torch & batteries
Christmas card or note
Activities e.g. cross word books etc
Coffee vouchers
Dog Treats
Sleeping bags (separate to your box / rucksack, to be handed to those in need)

Contact the appeal coordinator through the Shoe Box Appeal Facebook page if you have any questions.
