On Friday June 13, we proudly welcomed a group of volunteers from Marburg, Germany.
These volunteers are part of a European exchange called IDA 2, a project financed jointly by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the European Union.
The project aims to give people that have been unemployed the opportunity to experience life in a different culture and to develop their self-esteem. It also aims to create dialogue between different cultures and encourage the sharing of ideas.
It is always an honour to have people come over and see what we do here, even better when they come from overseas.
One member of the group, Cleo, shares some of her thoughts with us:
‘I love Bristol; it’s a very lovely city with many old parts and new parts and lots of things to do. The harbour is also very beautiful’
We’ll be organising a number of trips for the group over the next few weeks. What a wonderful way to start the summer!
